HAMDEN, CT -The Wagner College men's tennis team lost 7-0 at Quinnipiac on Sunday, April 2. The Seahawks are now 2-9 and 1-4 in the Northeast Conference while the Bobcats improve to 7-6 and 2-1 in the NEC.
Senior Steve Johnsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) lost at No. 1 singles to Andrew Chan 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to Michael Racioppo. At No. 3, senior Brandon Sogluizzo (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) lost to Jon Russo 6-2, 6-0. Graduate student Scott Chamberlin (Torrington, CT / Torrington / Western New England) was blanked by Goldy Sherrill 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles while sophomore Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) was shut out by Grey Kreyman at No. 5 6-0, 6-0. The Seahawks forfeited at No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, Johnsen and Amster put up a good fight before bowing to Chan and Racioppo 8-5 at No. 1 while Chamberlin and Sogluizzo were dropped 8-0 at No. 2.
The Seahawks return to action on Wednesday, April 5 when they head to the shore for a 3 pm tilt with Monmouth.
