April 26, 2006

Final Stats

Bronx, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team were defeated today at Gaelic Park, falling to Manhattan College 10-4. The Green & White now stand at 0-7 in the MAAC and 0-14 overall on the year.

The Jaspers jumped out to an initial 5-0 advantage after the first quarter of play until Seahawks' junior midfielder Josh Hamilton (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) ended the drought with an unassisted goal with 2:21 to play in the first half.

After the break, however, Manhattan quickly tacked two up on the board, making it a 7-1 Jasper advantage with 8:20 left to go in the third quarter.

Wagner then seesawed back into the game with two goals of their own, another one coming from Hamilton with 4:19 left in the third and the second from sophomore attack Andrew Daly (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) with just 1:44 on the clock in the third period.

But, the rest of the contest wouldn't see a comeback from the Green & White as they surrendered three more goals to the Jaspers putting the score at 10-3 with 8:59 left in the game.

Junior attack Taylor Poschmann (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor) would tack on the last score of the game for either team with 5:21 remaining on an assist from Josh Hamilton making the final, 10-4.

Senior goalkeeper Chris Sochacki (Brant Beach, NJ/Shawnee) was solid once again in goal as he finished with 19 saves.

The Seahawks' next and final contest of the season is "Senior Day", this Saturday, April 29, when they play host to Siena College in a MAAC Conference match-up at 2 p.m.
