Final Stats
Brooklyn, NY - Senior Darby Biggart (Crownsville, MD / Arch. Spalding) scored a career high five goals and added an assist to lead the Seahawks to a season finale 15-13 win over host LIU. Wagner ends the 2006 campaign at 5-12 overall and 3-5 in the NEC.
After the Blackbirds (5-12; 3-5 NEC) started the scoring, senior Jen Ryan (Clifton, VA / W.T. Woodson) and freshman Kelly Blundin (Plymouth Meeting, PA / Whitmarsh) gave Wagner a 2-1 advantage. The Seahawks then trailed 3-2 after two more LIU goals, but would score eight of the games next nine goals for a comfotable 10-4 lead. Biggart would score three of her goals during hte stretch.
The Blackbirds answered back with four unanswered trimming the the lead to 10-8 with 15 minutes to play, but Biggart stepped up once more with unassisted goal, her fourth of the game. That would begin a 4-0 run for the green and white that bumped the lead back to six at 14-8 with 13 minutes left.
LIU would make it 14-11, until senior Heather George (W. Allenhust, NJ / Ocean Twp.) capped her her well decorated career with her lone score of the game at 7:50 to seal the win. George's goal extended her streak to 30 consecutive games with a goal scored as she finishes the season with a school record 59 goals.
Ellis, Ryan, and freshmen Cara Gonzalez (Syracuse, NY / Westhill) and Jessica Richmond (Jenkintown, PA / Jenkintown) all had two goals each in the game. Ellis, Ryan, Gonzalez, and Blundin had assists as well. Senior Nicole Cipollone (Swathomore, PA / Ridley) scooped up a season high 11 ground balls to help freshman goalie Amy Jones (N. Harford, MD / N. Harford), who recorded eight saves.
Amy Rizzio had a game high seven goals and an assist for LIU.
