Men's Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision To SFNY At NEC Tourney

WEST WINDSOR, NJ - The No. 8 seed Wagner College Seahawks completed their season with a 4-2 loss to No. 9 St. Francis (NY) at the NEC Tennis Tournament earlier today. The Green & White finish up at 3-13 overall and 2-7 against NEC teams.

Senior Brandon Sogluizzo (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) and graduate student Scott Chamberlin (Torrington, CT / Torrington / Western New England) finished up their collegiate careers with convincing wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Sogluizzo defeated Chris Sepulveda in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 while Chamberlin was victorious over Anthony Wise 6-1, 6-2. The duo also rolled in No. 2 doubles, claiming a 8-3 win over Elan Evans and Wise.

At No. 1 singles senior Steve Johnsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) concluded his season with a 6-0, 6-4 loss to Arthur Velnik. At the five spot, sophomore Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) also lost 6-1, 6-1 to George Lesmes.

Johnsen and sophomore Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) fell 8-3 in No. 1 doubles to Velnik and Lesmes.

Amster, Chamberlin and Sogluizzo each won three singles' matches on the season, leading the Green & White.
