Final Stats
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The Wagner College men's lacrosse team was handed a crushing defeat from the Marist Red Foxes yesterday afternoon, 13-9, despite their biggest offensive production of the season. They now sit with an 0-9 record.
Down quickly in the game, 4-0, three straight goals from the Green & White got them right in the thick of things once again. The scores came from senior Tom Marchetti (Washington, DC/Gonzaga) unassisted, sophomore Ryan Martin (Florham Park, NJ/Bayley Ellard) off a look from junior Ryan Pepe (Andover, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and freshman Evan Shull (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) off a pass from Mac Schilcher (Martha's Vineyard, MA/Martha's Vineyard).
At halftime, the Seahawks found themselves down by only a slim margin, 7-4. But in the second half, Marist just squeaked by with a 6-5 advantage over Wagner for the rest of the contest.
Freshman Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI/Novi) proved to be a force again as he keyed the second half surge for Wagner with 2 goals.
Junior Taylor Poschmann (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor) also added a pair of goals after halftime.
In goal for the Seahawks, as always, was their senior leader Chris Sochaki (Brant Beach, NJ/Shawnee), who continued his knack for putting up impressive numbers with 23 saves on the afternoon.
