Wagner's Two Game Winning Streak Stopped at Bucknell 13-5

Lewisburg, PA - The Seahawks women's lacrosse team had their two game winning streak stopped at host Bucknell by a final of 13-5 today. The loss leaves Wagner at 4-9 on the year.

Senior Heather George (W. Allenhurst, NJ / Ocean Twp.) led the way once agains with three goals for Wagner, while junior Jess Ellis (Fairport, NY / Fairport) and freshman Jessica Richmond (Jenkintown, PA / Jenkintown) added one each.

The Seahawks fell behind 4-0 to start the game before George broke through with a free position shot at 19:01. The Bison would answer back with two more goals before Ellis got on the board off an assist from freshman Cara Gonzalez (Syracuse, NY / Westhill).

Richmond would score later in the half, but not before another Bucknell goal left Wagner trailing 7-3 at intermission.

The Seahawks did not fair much better in the second half as they totaled just two goals (both from George) and remained winless on the road this season.

Ellis and junior Virginia Hernandez (Huntington Station, NY / Walt Whitman) each had three ground balls for Wagner, as did freshman Lindsay Hashmall (Wantagh, NY / Wantagh).

In goal, freshman Amy Jones (N. Harford, MD / N. Harford) made 10 saves in 45 minutes before giving way to senior Leslie Christian (Middlesex, VT / Union).

Sarah Collins and Emily Burman led the Bison (4-9) with four goals each.

Wagner converted just 1-9 free position shots and were out shot 42-25 for the game. The Seahawks also commited 21 turnovers compared to 14 for Bucknell.

The team returns to action in the NEC when they travel to CCSU for a 12:00 pm game on Saturday.
