STONY BROOK, NY -The Wagner College Seahawks were on the short end of a 22-7 score against Stony Brook earlier today at University Field. The Seawolves scored in every inning except the third and had 30 hits off of Wagner pitching. With the loss the Green & White fall to 5-21 while Stony Brook is now 9-17.
Freshman Pete Delleani (Manalapan, NJ / CBA) led four Seahawks with multiple hits as he recorded a career-high three hits with two RBI and fell just a home run short of the cycle. Junior Joseph DiGeronimo (Hawthorne, NJ / Hawthorne) went 2-5 with two doubles for his 10th multiple-hit game in his last 11. Junior Pat Rogers (Middletown, NJ / St. John's) extended his hitting streak to four games with his second career multi-hit game going 2-5 with two runs and freshman Chris Drechsel (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) also had his second career multi-hit game going 2-5 with two RBI.
Stony Brook scored five runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the bottom of the second to go up 8-1 on their way to an easy 22-7 victory. Wagner cut the deficit to 13-7 in the top of the seventh but would get no closer.
Taking the loss for Wagner and falling to 1-3 on the season was Thomas Weston (Fair Haven, NJ / Rumson). Kris Bakey picked up the win for Stony Brook and is now 2-3.
The Seahawks will look to snap their three-game losing streak when they begin a five game homestand against Manhattan on Thursday, April 13 at 3:30 pm.
