Loyola (MD) Drops Men's Tennis 7-0

STATEN ISLAND, NY -The Wagner College men's tennis team was on the short end of a 7-0 score against Loyola (MD) earlier today at the College of Staten Island (CSI). The Seahawks are now 1-8 on the season.

Senior Steve Johnsen (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) dropped a heartbreaker at No. 1 singles 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to Scott Gannon. At No. 2 singles, sophomore Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) fell to 6-2, 6-1 to Sean Wall. Senior Brandon Sogluizzo (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) lost in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 to Ben Epstein. Graduate student Scott Chamberlin (Torrington, CT / Torrington / Western New England) also lost in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 to Chad Morrow. Playing at No. 5, sophomore Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) was defeated by Sean Kraft 6-1, 6-0. The Seahawks forfeited at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, the tandem of Johnson and Amster lost to Gannon and Epstein 8-3 while Sogluizzo and Chamberlin lost 8-4 to Wall and Morrow.

The Seahawks return to action tomorrow when they head to Delaware State for a 1 pm match.
