JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Wagner College Seahawks dropped a 16-5 decision to the St. Peter's Peacocks earlier this afternoon at Jaroschak Field. With the loss the Green & White fall to 1-12 while the Peacocks improve to 4-12.
The Seahawks never really threatened as the Peacocks scored four runs in the third and six in the fourth to jump out in front 10-0 on their way to an easy 16-5 win. The Peacocks scored their 16 runs on 20 hits.
Junior Ed Sudol (Wallington, NJ / Wallington) led the Seahawk offense going 2-3 with two walks and two RBI while classmates Matt Mastrianni (Ringoes, NJ / Hunterdon Central) and Joseph DiGeronimo (Hawthorne, NJ / Hawthorne) each smacked two hits.
Senior rhp Mike D'Angelis (Paramus, NJ / St. Joseph Regional) yielded 10 runs, seven earned, and struck out five in 3.2 innings while falling to 0-4 on the year.
Dave Lewandoski led the Peacock offensive attack going 3-3 with a triple and 4 RBI and Grevin Rodriguez yielded one earned run in 6.2 innings to improve to 1-1 on the season.
The Seahawks now head to West Point to take on Army for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 25 starting at 12 pm before returning to Staten Island on Sunday, March 26 at 1 pm for their home opener against the Black Knights.
