Kissimmee, FL - Wagner won its first game of the day over Iona 8-3, before a 2-1 afternoon loss to Tennessee-Martin. The Seahawks now stand at 3-8 on the season as they continue play at the Rebel Games.
The Seahawks ran their wining streak to three straight with a morning win over Iona by a final of 8-3 improving their season record to 3-7.
Wagner jumped on the board early grabbing a 3-0 lead after the top of the first. Sophomore Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) led off the game with a sharp single up the middle and later scored when senior Christy Sykora (Orland Park, IL / Carl Sandburg) reached on an error. Back to back doubles by sophomore Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) and freshman Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV / Wooster) would then account for the 3-0 advantage.
Iona struck right back in the bottom of the inning scoring two runs on a double to right center and a balk by junior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado).
The Seahawks would then score two more runs n the second for a 5-2 advantage. Sykora would double in Stevens with a shot to right center followed by a RBI ground from Batistelli that plated junior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison).
After the first, Miller escaped a jam in the second, and then cruised through the next three innings facing just nine batters while surrendering a single hit.
The game was broken open in the fifth with another three run frame from the green and white storm. Pinch hitter Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS) knocked in the first run before a sacrifice fly by sophomore Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central). Stevens then belted her third hit of the game with a run scoring double to right.
Iona tallied an unearned run in the seven before Miller closed the door with a bases loaded strike out. The hurler won her third straight decision going the distance while allowing two earned runs on nine hits with four Ks.
Seven different players pounded out hits in the game for Wagner.

In the second game Wagner came up short in a pitchers duel 2-1 loss vs Tennessee-Martin.
TM struck first in the second game scoring in the top of the first when a pair of two out singles sandwiched a walk for a 1-0 lead. Wagner would then fight back with a run the third to even the score at 1-1. After Iwicki drew a one out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch, Stevens pulled a screamer just inside the first base bag to score the run.
The Skyhawks regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning in what would prove to be the winning run. After a one out double and a walk loaded the bases, TM's Justine Pineda drew a 3-2 count and then fouled off four pitches before grounding into a 6-5 fielder's choice that scored the go ahead run from third.
The Seahawks would threaten in the bottom of the seventh after Lazarri led off with a single and then moved to second on a wild pitch with one out. A fly out and an infield pop-up then closed out the game.
Hopkins (0-2) was charged with the loss going all seven innings with the two runs on ten hits. She also struck out four, including the side in the seventh with a runner on. Hopkins would account for the other Wagner hit dropping a two out single into left int eh second inning.
Wagner returns to action on Tuesday at the games facing Saint Louis and Rider.
