Wagner Drops 14-5 Decision At Lafayette

EASTON, PA - The Wagner College Seahawks fell 14-5 earlier today at Lafayette. The Seahawks and the Leopards were neck and neck until the third period when with the score tied 4-4, Lafayette outscored the Seahawks 10-1 to end the game. With the loss the Seahawks fall to 0-4 while Lafayette improves to 1-3.

Down 1-0, the Seahawks answered with a Josh Hamilton (Jr. Millersville, MD / Serverna Park) goal with 2:39 to go in the first. The two teams then rotated goals as freshman attacker Evan Shull (Port Jefferson Station, NY / Comsewogue) tied the game at two off a Mac Schilcher (Martha's Vineyard, MA / Martha's Vineyeard) pass. Junior attacker Taylor Poschmann (Cold Spring Harbor, NY / Cold Spring Harbor) then gave the Green & White their first lead of the season scoring with 13:32 in the second. The lead would be short lived as Lafayette would answer with two-straight goals before Hamilton scored his second goal of the game to even it up at four with 1:35 remaining in the second.

In the last two periods the Leopards would turn the heat up on the Seahawks outscoring Wagner 9-1 while limiting the Seahawks to just seven shots after they got off nine in each of the first two periods.

Freshman attacker Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI / Novi) rounded out the Wagner scoring with a goal off a Mike Coleman (Jr., Rainbow Lakes, NJ / Boonton) pass.

Hamilton led the Seahawks with two goals on the day while senior goalie Chris Sochacki (Brant Beach, NJ / Shawnee) made 15 saves in goal for the Green & White.

The Seahawks were outshot 47-25 and lost the battle of the ground balls (47-22) and face-offs (17-5).

The Seahawks return to action when they play at Bellermine in Louisville, KY on Tuesday, March 14 at 3 pm.
