Dec. 1, 2006

Results

West Lafayette, IN -- Wagner College junior swimmer Jess Radka (Reading, PA/Holy Name) took part in her first of two preliminary races earlier today on Day 2 of the US Open Championships being held on the campus of Purdue University.

Radka took 97th place in the prelims for the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:07.46. Radka had qualified for the event with a time of 57.09 in the 100 yard butterfly at last year's NEC Championships. The pool setup is the major difference at this world meet where meters are used as opposed to yards. Generally the 100 butterfly would consist of four laps but in these much larger pools it is only containing two long laps.

Radka will be back in the pool tomorrow for the preliminaries of the 200 meter butterfly. For more information on how she fares as well as the entire event visit www.usaswimming.org and follow links for the US Open.
