Staten Island, NY -- The Wagner College women's water polo team downed Villanova University 12-10 earlier this evening in an exhibition match held in the pool at the Spiro Sports Center.
The Wagner offense was paced by junior Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) who tallied four goals on the evening. Joining Hoelck in the scoring parade was classmate Amber McMichael (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) who found the back of the net twice.
Other scoring for the Green & White consisted of two players making their debuts for the Green & White. Freshman Amanda Owen (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) and junior college transfer Yvette Viramontes (Montebello, CA/Montebello) each tallied a score. Also lighting the proverbial lamp with goals were Corrine Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley), Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton), Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) and Camille Karimzad (Campolindo, CA/Walnut Creek).
Senior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) played the entire game in the cage impounding 12 Villanova shots.
The Seahawks are currently set to have one more exhibition contest against the New York Athletic Club on January 27, before starting the season for real on February 3 out in San Diego, CA.
