TEANECK, NJ - A second-straight win was not in the cards for the Wagner College Seahawks (1-3; 1-2 NEC) as they fell on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson (2-0; 1-0 NEC) by a 7-0 score yesterday, October 3.
Junior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) fell to Priit Gross at first singles 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, freshman John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) lost 6-0, 6-0 to Gabriel Lopez. Classmate Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) also lost by a 6-0, 6-0 count to Justin Seow at No. 3 singles. At fourth singles, graduate student Rob Kiley (Greenlawn, NY / Hofstra), the hero of the SFNY match, lost to Kyle Eddins 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Kevin Callaghan (E. Northport, NY / Elwood) dropped his match 6-0, 6-0 to Esteban Blanco at No. 5. Classmate David Ahoobim (West Covina, CA / South Hills) was also shut out 6-0, 6-0 to Miroslav Piven at six singles.
The Seahawks lost all three matches at doubles. Amster and LeBlanc lost 8-0 to Gross and Eddins at No. 1. Serbiak and Kiley fell 8-2 to Blanco and Seow at No. 2. Junior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) and Callaghan dropped an 8-1 decision to Lopez and Piven at No. 3 doubles.
The Seahawks are next in action when they head to scenic Lawrenceville, NJ on Wednesday, Oct. 11 to take on the Rider Broncs.
