Men and Women Tally Seventh Place Finish At NEC XC Championships

Bronx, NY -- The Wagner College men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Northeast Conference Championship earlier today and both squads tallied seventh place finishes as the end of the day.

The highlights of the day for the Green & White were senior Kyle Sultzer (Archbald, PA/Valley View) and Brecken Drager (Loomis, CA/Del Oro) earning All-NEC honors.

Sultzer tallied a seventh place finish overall with a time of 26:21.1. Next up for the Seahawks was sophomore Allen Koehler (Okeana, OH/William Henry Harrison) at 36th place with a time of 27:54.8. Former All-NEC performer Mouhamed Halwani (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) grabbed 48th place at 28:35.4, while freshman James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) was good for 59th place at 29:28.4. Rounding out the runners for the Wagner men were Andrew Keating (Riverside, RI/Mount Saint Charles) and Daniel McCartney (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian). Keating took 63rd place at 29:45.7, while McCartney landed in 70th place at 31:19.7.

Turning to the women, Drager took 13th place overall with a time of 19:06.6. Meaghan Robbins (Waymart, PA/Western Wayne) took 27th place at 20:00.6 while freshman Jenna Nagliera (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) was good for 38th place at 20:32.2. Senior and former All-NEC athlete Maris Reutzel (Meadville, PA/Meadville) grabbed 41st place at 20:41.5. Ashley Mallen (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) rounded out Wagner finishers in the top 50 when she took 49th place at 20:54.1. Current NEC rookie of the week Jen Wejsa (Wantage, NJ/High Point) was the final Wagner finisher working her way into 79th place at 22:52.2.

The Seahawks will be back in action at the NCAA Northeast Regional for those who qualify on November 11.
