Rider Defeats Wagner 6-1

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Wagner men's tennis team concluded their fall season with a 6-1 loss at Rider today in a match that was suspended earlier this month due to inclement weather. The Green & White fall to 1-6 while the Broncs are 2-10.

Junior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) showed why he is playing in the No. 1 spot with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win over Karl Wojciechowski. Freshman John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) lost 6-2, 6-1 to Will Haight at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, classmate Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) fell 6-0, 6-1 to Marc Ashed. Graduate student Rob Kiley (Greenlawn, NY / Hofstra) lost a hard-fought match at No. 4 to Jim Leone 6-4, 6-7 (0-5), 11-9. Freshman Kevin Callaghan (E. Northport, NY / Elwood) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Mike Straub at five singles. Freshman David Ahoobim (West Covina, CA / South Hills) also lost 6-0, 6-0 to Luke Sproviero at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Wagner's No. 2 team of Serbiak and Kiley defeated Robert Worlow and Wojciechowski 8-2. At No. 1 doubles Ashed and Haight beat Amster and LeBlanc 8-2. Rounding out doubles play, Callaghan and junior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) were felled 8-0 by Straub and Leone at third doubles.
