Moon Township, PA - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team lost a decision 2-1 to Robert Morris University (6-11-0, 2-5-0) at North Atlantic Complex in a Northeast Conference battle this afternoon. They now move to a record of (1-15-0) overall and (1-6-0) in the NEC.
Despite tying the Colonials in the shots category 11 apiece, the Seahawks had a tough time getting even after Robert Morris put up the first two goals of the game.
The first Colonial goal came only eight minutes into the game after Christina Nicholson took a pass from Stephanie Kuhn and booted a shot past Seahawk goalkeeper senior Ashley Wilson (Secane, PA/Upper Darby).
Fifteen minutes later, in the 23rd minute, Robert Morris would add that second goal of the game - which ultimately would wind up being the game-winner - when Hilary Nellis beat Wilson in the left corner from twenty-five yards out.
The Seahawks would not be totally shutdown, however.
Sophomore back Stephanie Burnett (Cocoa Beach, FL/Satellite) bounced a 40-yard bomb over Colonial goalkeeper Jessica Onufer that snuck in for a goal in the 72nd minute of the contest.
As for the Wagner goalkeeping, Ashley Wilson spent all 90 minutes between the pipes, recording six saves on the afternoon.
The Seahawks return to Staten Island for their final two home games of the season. First up is NEC opponent Mount St. Mary's this Friday at 3 p.m. The final home game will come against Monmouth University next Sunday at 1 p.m.
