JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Wagner Seahawks fell 7-0 at Saint Peter's earlier today. With the setback Wagner is now 1-5 while the Peacocks are 2-2. The Seahawks took No. 1 doubles for their only win of the day when junior Adam Amster (Concord, MA / Concord-Carlisle) and freshman John LeBlanc (Staten Island, NY / Tottenville) pulled out a thrilling 9-7 win over Cprime Realista and Conrad Nowogrodzki.
In singles action, Amster fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 to Realista at No. 1. At second singles, LeBlanc also lost by a 6-1, 6-1 count to JJ Gramatica. At No. 3 singles, graduate student Rob Kiley (Greenlawn, NY / Hofstra) dropped a hard-fought match 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 to Peter Czakja. Freshman Ben Serbiak (Washington Crossing, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) lost 6-0, 6-1 to Nowogrodzki at No. 4 singles. Freshman Kevin Callaghan (E. Northport, NY / Elwood) was blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Andrew Maple at five singles. Junior Will Shuler (Springfield, MA / Central Springfield) rounded out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Jake Baranowski at the six spot.
Despite the Seahawks win at first doubles, the Peacocks took the doubles' point winning at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, Kiley and Serbiak fell 8-5 to Gramatica and Czakja. At No. 3, Maple and Baranowski took down Callaghan and Shuler 8-0.
The Seahawks conclude their fall season when they head to Lawrenceville, NJ on Thursday, Oct. 26 to finish their earlier match at Rider, which was suspended due to inclement weather.
