Oct. 1, 2006

Box Score

New York, NY - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team lost a 3-0 game to Columbia University at Columbia Soccer Stadium in a non-conference match-up. They now move to a record of (0-10-0) overall.

Unfortunately for the Seahawks the Lions took control of the game from the beginning. Wagner would see Columbia take nine corners before they finally scored off one in the 39th minute when Alana Pressloff connected with a 35 yard blast over Seahawk senior goalkeeper Ashley Wilson's (Secane, PA/Upper Darby) head to put the Lions up 1-0.

Less than three minutes later Columbia netted another score that gave them a 2-0 advantage going into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, it was much of the same as the Seahawks would have a tough time all day getting scoring opportunities to get even, getting out-shot by the home team in the game 31-3.

In the 56th minute Lion senior forward Shannon Munoz notched a goal that would put the game out of reach, putting the score at 3-0 in favor of the Ivy Leaguers that would end up as the final score.

Freshman midfielder Danielle Sheehan (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) was the only Wagner player to get a shot on goal on the day.

As for Wagner's goalkeeping, sophomore Leslie Reed (Indian Harbour Beach, FL/Satellite) spelled Ashley Wilson at the start of the second half saving three shots. Wilson also save three in her 45 minutes in the first half.

The Seahawks next game is this Friday as they resume their road campaign to face NEC opponent Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m.
