Gardner-Webb Rolls by Seahawks 136-49

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Seahawk swim team fell to Gardner-Webb University this past Saturday down in Fort Myers, Florida as they wrapped up their annual training trip in the sunshine state. The Green and White fell by a count of 136-49 in which the team did not pick up a single individual race victory.

Leading the way for Wagner was junior Julie Gardner (Concord, CA/Concord) who tallied a second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at a time of 2:32.37. In the same race Eileen Dowd (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) was not far behind landing in fourth at 2:33.21.

Sophomore Jess Radka (Mohnton, PA/Holy Name) took third place in the 200-yard fly clocking a time of 2:19.43. Alyssa Montgomery (Yucaipa, CA/Redlands) also worked her way to a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle race registering a time of 55.90. The final bright note for the Seahawks was a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:44.99) by the team of Montgomery, Molly McDonald (Hickory, NC/Seton Home School), Brigitta Roser (Ithaca, NY/Lansing), and Michelle Varga (Astoria, NY/Archbishop Molloy).

The Seahawks now have a few weeks off before their next competition. Their next scheduled meet is set for Senior Day, January 28, 2006 at home against Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State.
