Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's soccer team lost their fourth game of the season to Columbia. The Seahawks now stand at 0-4 for year while the Lions are 3-2-1. Columbia started the game off strong with Jana Whiting shooting a hot ball past Wagner's goalkeeper senior Ashley Wilson (Secane, PA / Upper Darby) in the fifth minute of play.
Columbia's Jana Whiting struck again in the 19th minute to collect her second goal after her first shot was deflected. Freshman goalie Leslie Reed (Indian Harbour Beach, FL / Satellite) came on in relief for Wilson, making eight saves in goal.
Wagner's offense came out aggressive, but was out-shot 21-4 for the game. Both teams played with high intensity and three yellow cards were given out in the contest. Columbia also held a 19-8 advantage in fouls and an 8-1 margin in corner kicks.
Columbia added their last goal in the 89th minute which produced the final score.
Wagner returns to action on Sunday away against Fordham for a 1:00 pm contest.
