Seahawks Down Siena and Canisius; Move to 5-0

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Seahawk swim team kept rolling along and moved their record to 5-0 after knocking off Siena and Canisius this past Sunday in Loudonville, New York. The Green & White rolled Canisius by a score of 103-32 and edged the host Saints 65-56.

The Seahawks picked up five individual wins en route to the victory. After a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, Wagner got it going when Shannon Johnston (Cherry Hill, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) leveled the field in the 1000-yard freestyle cruising to a time of 10:46.69. Junior Kate Wilson (Brentwood, CA/San Francisco St. U.) built some momentum with a win in the next race, the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:00.55. After consecutive third place finishes the Seahawks got back in the winner's circle in the 200-yard butterfly where Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) powered her way to top with a time of 2:14.60.

Two third place, and two second place finishes followed, and then came the 500-yard freestyle and with it came another Wagner win. Junior Julie Gardner (Concord, CA/Concord) edged her teammate Colleen Bowman (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) with a time of 5:22.32 to pick up the victory. The 200-yard Individual Medley rounded out the wins for Wagner with Jess Radka (Mohnton, PA/Holy Name) picking up the win.

In addition to the first place finishes Wagner added nine second-place times to help in the victories.

The Seahawks are back in the pool on November 20 for the CCSU "Duels" Invite in New Britain, Connecticut.
