Today was Senior Recognition Day for the Seahawks and what better way to finish the game than with senior Betty Ann Rogers (Mt. Holly, NJ / George School) blasting in a 25 yard kick into the top right netting to win the game in the first overtime period.
After a scoreless first half, the Seahawks were the first to get on the board with junior Heather Daubert (Middletown, NY / Minisink) scoring from a penalty after being tackled in the box.
FDU's Ana Moniz came through for the Knights in the 77th minute scoring on a 35 yard shot that bounced off the top right post and rolled in the goal. The Knights took their share of shots during the game, out shooting the Seahawks 19-10. With time left on the clock, both teams made a surge to finish the game in regulation, but neither was successful.
The only shot taken in overtime was by Rogers in the 97th minute off an assist from Daubert which found the nothing but the back of the netting to finish her career at Wagner College and give the Seahawks the win.
Also honored in the pre game ceremonies were seniors Ashley Rehill (Warminster, PA / Archbishop Wood), Jackie Santariello (Staten Island, NY / St. John Villa), and Juli Baranello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph Hill).
The Seahawk's three Northeast Conference wins are the most since a 3-3 showing in the 1997 season.
Wagner closed out the year winning three of their final seven games with one tie.
