Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team was blanked by the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson in Northeast Conference action 7-0.
FDU won every match they played in and picked up two more wins via default. Dan Wynne got things moving early on for the Knights when he took down Steve Johnsen (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) 6-2, 6-2. That match was followed by sophomore Adam Amster (Concord, MA/Concord-Carlisle) falling to Justin Seow 6-1, 6-0. The Knights were just getting going as Esteban Blanco rolled by Brandon Sogluizzo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) 6-1, 6-0 and Chris Bowers powered past Will Shuler (Springfield, MA/Central Springfield) 6-0, 6-1. Singles play was rounded out with Constandinos Efthymiou pulling out a win against junior Mike Tutunjian (Ridge, NY/Longwood). The final singles match was awarded to FDU due to a Seahawk default.
As for doubles play, the Knights kept on coming as Wynne and Seow were victorious over Johnsen and Amster 8-2. That match was followed by Blanco and Bowers nearly blanking Sogluizzo and Shuler 8-1. The final match was again awarded to FDU based on a default.
