Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson in Northeast Conference action. The Green & White were victorious in every match they played, losing just two matches on defaults. In addition, Wagner only allowed five points on the afternoon.
The Seahawks fired out of the gates and never looked back as sophomore Katy Carey (Montclair, VA/University of Miami HS) got things started with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win over Tricia Small. The hits kept on coming as Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ/Morris Catholic) rolled over Nadia Ortubia 6-0, 6-0, and Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, JA/St. Andrews) blanked Stephanie De Los Santos 6-0, 6-0. Wagner was just getting going and Marie Crane (Chesire, CT/Chesire) added to the momentum shutting out Marissa Cali 6-0, 6-0. Play was rounded out with freshman Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH/Exeter Area) making quick work of Stacey Honore 6-1, 6-2. The final match was awarded to the Knights due to a Wagner default.
In doubles play it was more of the same for the Seahawks. The duo of Carey and Frazza knocked off Small and Ortubia 8-1, while Mahtani and Crane joined forces to defeat De Los Santos and Cali 8-1 as well. The final match was again award to FDU based on a Wagner default.
