Following a 41-year absence beginning in 1978 when the program stopped fielding a varsity program, competitive field hockey returned to Wagner College in the fall of 2019 with the newly-built Wagner College Field Hockey Complex. 
 
The jewel of a complex, located adjacent to the Seahawks' football stadium Hameline Field, is a state-of-the-art FieldTurf Hockey Gold playing surface.

In addition to serving as Wagner's field hockey game and practice field, the new playing surface adds another practice field option for sports such as lacrosse and soccer, freeing up field time and allowing greater flexibility with practice scheduling.

Wagner has hosted the NEC Tournament from the return of its varsity program in 2019 through 2024, excluding 2020.
