Chris Collazo

Chris Collazo completed his third year as an assistant coach at Wagner in 2014 and is responsible for the Seahawk hitters and infielders while also serving as the program's recruiting coordinator.

In 2014, Collazo helped Wagner return to the postseason following a four-year drought thanks to a pair of wins at two-time NEC Champion Bryant in the final series of the regular season. Under his watch, Chris Smith repeated on the All-NEC Second Team after batting .302 with a team-leading 29 runs, 14 doubles, five home runs and a .485 slugging percentage.

The 2013 season saw an offensive improvement across the board as the Seahawks' batting average, on base percentage and slugging percentage all improved. Additionally, the Green & White's hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases, walks and stolen bases totals were better then the previous campaign. The 114 total stolen bases were a NEC record and ranked among the top-15 nationally.

A major component in the offensive improvement under Collazo was Ian Miller, who earned his second-straight All-NEC honor before being selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 14th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Nick Dini joined Miller on the First Team and was first-ever Wagner representative on the team as a catcher. Miller and Dini were also All-Northeast Region selections following the season.

Collazo arrived on Grymes Hill from Seton Hall where he had served as an assistant since the fall of 2011 after previously working in the same capacity at Felician College. In the spring of 2011, Collazo helped the Golden Falcons to 24 wins while overseeing the development and maturation of two All-Conference performers in the infield. At the conclusion of last year, he was tabbed to coach in the New Jersey Division I/II/III Senior All-Star game at Kean University.

While with Felician, Collazo was also responsible for coordinating all recruiting efforts, player training and the development and execution of practice plans while monitoring each player's academic progress. Collazo also was in charge of creating scouting reports and spray charts for each opponent while constructing offensive and defensive strategic plans.

A resident of Wall, NJ, Collazo is a 2010 graduate of Monmouth University where he helped the Hawks to a pair of NCAA Regional Berths, highlighted by earning NEC Tournament MVP honors in 2009 en route to a berth in the Mississippi Regional. A two-time All-NEC honoree at second base, Collazo left as the school’s all-time leader in hits while posting the school’s top fielding percentage mark at second base.
