Luis Medina

Luis Rogelio Medina enters his fourth season as head women's golf coach in 2022-23 and will serve as the Director of Golf at Wagner College.

The Seahawks finished tied for third place at the 2022 NEC Championship under Medina, a mark last reached by the program in 2019. Medina's direction helped guide standout golfer Heather McLean to an all-time program-best second place finish on the players leader board at the 2022 conference tournament. At two NEC Championships, Medina has overseen four top 15 finishes individually.

During Medina's tenure on Grymes Hill, Wagner has had three All-Northeast Conference selections. Heather McLean garnered First Team All-NEC in 2021 and 2022, while Audrey Paradis earned Second Team All-NEC in 2022.

A native of Guadlajara, Mexico, Medina competed on the golf team at New Mexico State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 2017, majoring in Turfgrass Science and Management, Horticulture and Agriculture.

Medina was a two-time All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) First Team selection for the Aggies, who won two WAC team championships during Medina's playing career.

As a senior, Medina averaged 73.06 strokes over 36 rounds of play, including a career-low round of 65. He finished the year with three top-10 and six top-25 finishes en route to the second of his All-WAC First Team selections. He was also one of just three players to shoot all three rounds at or under 73 strokes during the WAC Championships that year.

Prior to his arrival on Grymes Hill, Medina was a superintendent at the New Mexico State University golf course from the Spring to the Fall of 2019. He'd previously worked on the maintenance crew at the course in the Fall of 2017, and as an intern in the Summer of 2016.

Interspersed with his NMSU GC stops, Medina worked at Shoreacres Golf Club in Illinois in the Summer and Fall of 2018, as well as the San Francisco Golf Club in the Summer of 2017.

As a sophomore at New Mexico State, Medina competed in all 10 tournaments and posted a 73.53 stroke average, good for fourth on the team. He opened the year with a win at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate with a 7-under 206 performance. He followed that up with a 10-under 206 card at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational, tying for ninth. He tied for 13th at the Aggie Invitational hosted by Texas A&M with a 7-over 223. His tie for 10th place finish helped the Aggies win their eighth WAC Championship in 10 years with a 3-over 219, earning First Team honors for his efforts.

Medina played his high school golf at Montverde Academy in Florida, where he was named a Second-Team Rolex Junior All-American by the American Junior Golf Association. He came in second at the Genesis Shootout Texas Valero in 2012, took third at the Mexican Amateur, fourth at the Golf Pride AJGA, and sixth at the Woodlands AJGA Tournament. Medina was ranked in the top-50 in the AJGA Polo Golf rankings.
