Wagner College Director of Athletics Brenden Fahey has announced the hiring of Anthony Pepe as the second head bowling coach in program history.

No stranger to the NEC, Pepe spent the last season as the assistant coach at LIU, helping the Sharks to a 47-55 overall record, including 7-14 in conference play. While at LIU, Pepe supervised athletes drills, worked on approaches, spare shooting, and other bowling fundamentals. Under his watch, Katelyn Wheeler landed herself on the All-NEC Rookie Team, averaging 18.05 per frame in Baker and 16.70 per frame in team format during the season.

Along with coaching, Pepe has spent time as a Sports Clinic Presenter, designing curriculum to improve bowling technique, form, and skills. As well as, working with athletes on maintaining a focused athletic training regimen and nutrition program.

Prior to LIU, Pepe spent the last decade as a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) as a Tour Athlete, competing in domestic and international tournaments. Pepe brings a plethora of experience to Wagner, winning the 2014 PBA Cheetah Championships on ESPN, three National Eagles, ten Eastern PBA Regional Titles, 15 New England Bowlers Association Titles; along with being named the East PBA Regional Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021, and being inducted into the New England Bowlers Association Hall of Fame.

Pepe will be the program’s second head coach since its inception. Wagner has finished with conference win totals of one, six, and four. During last season’s campaign, the Seahawks year was highlighted by a victory against the defending National Champions, McKendree University, at the North East Classic.
