Preston Borg

Preston Borg embarks on his second season as assistant coach of the Wagner College cross country and track & field programs. He will continue to mentor the distance runners during the indoor and outdoor track season. 

Borg, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, was a four-year member of the Central Arkansas cross country and track & field programs. As a member of the Bears' cross country program, he helped Central Arkansas to three top-five team finishes, highlighted by a third-place showing at the 2017 Southland Cross Country Championship.
 
Borg represented Central Arkansas in two NCAA Division I South Central Region Cross Country Championships, turning in his best time of 31:50.9 in the 2017 edition of the 10K race to finish among the top-75 out of 170 harriers that competed.
 
During his time in Conway, AR, Borg competed during the indoor track season in the 800, 3,000 and 5,000. His best finishes in the 3,000 & 5,000 were among the top-15 at the 2016 Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, as he placed 12th in the 3,000 with a time of 8:31.62 and 14th in the 5,000 with a time of 15:01.62.
 
Competing in the outdoor season, Borg raced in the 800, 1500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000. In the 3,000 and 5,000, he came in third-place in those respective events, crossing the finish line in the 3,000 at the 2015 ASU Red Wolf Open with a time of 8:50.14 and clocking in with a time of 14:58.03 at the 2018 UNF Spring Break Invitational in the 5,000.
 
In the 10,000 at the 2018 Virginia Challenge, Borg set a then school-record in the event, crossing the finish line in 30.26.
 
In the classroom, Borg was a two-time Academic Honor Roll selection while also being named to the Academic Dean's List (2014) and on the Dean's List in his final year of competition (2018).
 
Prior to enrolling at Central Arkansas, Borg competed for Loyola Catholic Secondary in Mississauga. He was a three-time Athletic Ontario medalist while being a three-time regional cross country medalist. On the track, he was a six-time regional track medalist. At the 2014 Canadian Junior Championship, he placed ninth in the 5000.
 
In addition to his coaching responsibilities for the Seahawks, Borg will be pursuing a Master of Science degree in Media Management.
