Marko Madaras

Marko Madaras enters his second year at Wagner as the Men’s Water Polo Assistant Coach in the program's second year of existence.

Madaras assisted Head Coach Chris Radmonovich in leading the Seahawks to a fifth place finish in the newly-formed Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship in the squad's inaugural season. In recording a 10-20 mark on the season, the neophyte program defeated its first nationally-ranked opponent on September 18, upsetting No. 18 St. Francis Brooklyn 12-11 at the Bison Invitational.

A former standout at Pepperdine University, Madaras played three seasons for the Waves, eventually earning team captain status. During his time in Malibu, he accumulated 93 goals, 71 assists, and 42 steals in 59 appearances.

Prior to attending Pepperdine, Madaras spent one season as a driver at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA. He led the Rustlers to a 34-1 record en route to the 2011 State Championship and was named to the State Championship All-Tournament Team after accumulating three goals throughout the two-game tournament.

A native of Eger, Hungary, Madaras played for the Water Polo Club of Eger before coming to the United States. His team won three Hungarian Championships while claiming a pair of Hungarian Cups and Komsa’di Beca Cup titles.

Madaras earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Pepperdine in 2015. In addition to his coaching duties, he will be pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration with a concentration in finance at Wagner.
