Cassandra Sehic

Wagner College fencing head coach David Sierra has announced the hiring of Cassandra Sehic as graduate assistant coach for the upcoming season.

"I am thrilled that Cassandra will be joining our coaching staff,” Sierra said. “Her experience as an NCAA competitor will be invaluable with the continued expansion of our fencing program here at Wagner."

Sehic spent three seasons with the NJIT women’s fencing program after serving as an assistant coach and student at the Fencing Academy of Denver from 2013 to 2019. She competed nationally and internationally during her eight year stint in Denver.

With the Highlanders, Sehic tied for 20th place in the sabre competition at the 2020 Mid-Atlantic/South Regional at Duke University. She held a 49-33 overall record in her first collegiate season.

In year two, Sehic went all the way to the NCAA Championships after compiling a 16-7 overall record as a sophomore. She finished in 15th place at the event.

During her junior year she earned USFCA All-Academic, Scholar of Distinction honors. After collecting 87 total wins she returned to the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals where she placed 19th overall in the sabre competition.

Sehic earned another 65 wins during her senior season, giving her 217 total wins across her four years with the Highlanders.
