Stefen Gage

Stefen Gage, a First-Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) selection and team MVP in 2010 for the Seahawks, will coach Wagner's cornerbacks for the third consecutive season in 2012.

As part of the staff that guided Wagner to the 2012 NEC title and to the second round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs, Gage mentored big-play First-Team All-NEC cornerback Jarrett Dieudonne. The Purdue transfer paced the Seahawks with 11 pass breakups and tied for the team lead with three interceptions. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown and amassed 48 tackles (24 solo).

Fellow seniors Torian Phillips, a second-team All-NEC choice, and Matthew McGuinness also delivered championship efforts in 2012, combining for 88 tackles with Phllips tying Dieudonne for the team lead with three interceptions.

Gage’s maiden voyage as a grid coach got off to an impressive beginning in 2010 as Dieudonne, and Phillips combined for six interceptions in 2011. Phillips led the team with four while Dieudonne picked off two passes, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

The Syracuse, NY native currently covers recruiting throughout upstate New York.

During his playing career as a defensive back at Wagner, Gage tied for the NEC lead with five interceptions as a senior in 2010, which helped propel him to All-First-Team NEC honors. The Syracuse, NY native’s dominating senior campaign saw him make a team-best 75 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.

On October 9, 2010 in our nation's capital, Gage turned in arguably the finest defensive game by a Seahawk in 2010 in Wagner’s thrilling 22-16 overtime win at Georgetown.

En route to earning NEC Defensive Player of the Week accolades, he forced two fumbles while totaling a then season-high 11 tackles, including a season-high 3.5 tackles-for-loss. Gage was a Second Team All-NEC pick as a sophomore in 2008.

Gage earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Wagner in 2011, and is nearing completion of a Masters in Education from Wagner.
