Justin Hinds

Justin Hinds joined the Wagner College coaching staff in the spring of 2012 and is beginning his second season as defensive line coach.

Under Hinds’ direction in 2012, the Seahawk defensive line performed at a high level all season and played a pivotal role in the Seahawks' NEC title run and NCAA playoff appearance.

Senior Jerome Williams blossomed in his one season working under Hinds after transferring from UConn, recording 45 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss.

Daevonte Barnett earned Freshman All-American honors by the College Sports Journal while recording 34 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Juniors Yamir Ortiz and Davon Johnson had productive seasons, boding well for 2013, making 22 and 13 tackles, respectively.

In 2013, Hinds will oversee a talented and deep unit, one that has a chance to be the NEC’s top defensive front.

A four-year member of the Rowan University (NJ) football team, Hinds served as captain of the 2008 Profs and was the team’s senior class representative that year.

He represented the university in May, 2008 at the NCAA Student Athlete Leadership Conference and was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Rowan Accounting Mentorship Program.

Hinds served as an assistant defensive line coach at Rowan in 2009 before taking over as defensive coordinator at Plainfield HS (NJ) in 2010 where he managed a staff of six position coaches. His duties also included evaluating and scouting opposing teams, implementing weekly game plans and coaching the Cardinals’ defensive line.

In 2011, Hinds returned to his other alma mater, Woodbridge High School (NJ), where he helped develop the Barrons’ offensive and defensive lines, focusing on teaching techniques and fundamentals. The coordinator of Woodbridge’s run game, he also assisted with the strength and conditioning program.

In addition, he functioned as Woodbridge's head freshman basketball coach and varsity assistant coach.

As a student-athlete at Woodbridge, Hinds was the captain of the 2004 Woodbridge gridiron team while also serving as captain of the 2004-05 Barrons’ basketball team.

A native of Port Reading, NJ, Hinds was a member of the Rowan Dean’s List in 2007 and 2009 before earning a degree in accounting in 2009. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at Wagner.
