Kamau Dumas

Wagner College head football coach Tom Masella has announced the hiring of Kamau Dumas, who takes over as Wagner's defensive backs coach. Dumas joins the Seahawks' coaching staff after coaching at Gannon University during the 2022 season, helping the Golden Knights to an 8-3 record.
 
A native of Morristown, N.J., Dumas had been serving as the defensive backs coach at McPherson College after beginning his coaching career at his alma mater, Morristown High School, serving as the defensive backs / receivers coach from June 2021 to March 2022.
 
Dumas is a former All-Big South selection after starting 27 games at Monmouth, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication in 2017.
 
In 2017, Dumas recorded 37 tackles while finishing second on the team with 9 passes broken up. He was also second in interceptions with 3 for 64 yards, including one return for a touchdown. He set the Monmouth record for longest punt return that season with an 89-yard return for a touchdown against Holy Cross that season. He averaged 12.8 yards on 14 punt returns. Monmouth finished 9-3 that year and was selected for the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
 
He would go on to have a tryout with the NFL's New York Giants, and had an invite to the Baltimore Brigade of the Arena Football League. He later signed with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Indoor Football League.
