Wagner College Director of Athletics
Brendan Fahey has announced the hiring of Tiffany Galbo as the Seahawks' head varsity cheerleading coach.
"We're excited to welcome Tiffany to Grymes Hill," Fahey commented. "Her ties to the Staten Island community and her extensive work in the sport made her a great fit for our inaugural varsity cheerleading team."
Galbo arrives on Grymes Hill after previously serving as the head cheerleading coach at the College of Staten Island. After being an assistant coach between 2016 and 2021, Galbo was elevated to the head coaching role in 2021.
Additionally, Galbo was involved with USA Spirit as a STUNT official and Cheer 4 A Cause as the senior director of operations.
Galbo has the USA Cheer STUNT Official and USA Cheer Safety and Risk Management Certifications.
Wagner added varsity cheerleading and men's fencing as varsity sports in July, bringing the Seahawks' number of varsity sports up to 28.
The program will start competing during the 2023-24 academic year.
The Seahawks' cheerleading squad, which will compete nationally, will be a member of the Universal Cheer Association (UCA) and Universal Dance Association (UDA).
Cheerleading has a rich tradition at Wagner, with student-athletes participating at the club level for more than four decades.
