Fairfield, CT – The Wagner College football team shut out Sacred Heart 7-0 through the first half, but it wasn't enough, as the Pioneers used a strong second half to earn a 41-7 victory on Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-9 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 6-4 this year.
The Wagner defense kept the Pioneers off the board in the first half, as seniors
Chris Williams and
Cam Gill along with freshman
Dee'Shari Keith each recorded a sack.
The Seahawks then took the lead with a 12-play 76-yard drive that took six minutes and 48 seconds off the clock in the second quarter.
Senior running back
Ikechukwu Ogwuegbu got the drive started with a 20-yard burst and continued with three straight rushes for a combined 27 yards.

Christian Alexander-Stevens found wide receiver
Noah Ellison over the middle for the touchdown.
For Ellison, it was his first touchdown reception as a Seahawk.
During the first half, graduate student captain
Santoni Graham recorded his 300
th career tackle. The three-year captain ranks in the top 10 all-time in tackles and finished the day with a game-high 10 tackles.
Sophomore
Titus Leo collected nine tackles, while Gill finished with eight stops, including one sack. Williams led Wagner with 1.5 sacks on the afternoon.
Ellison hauled in a game-high four receptions, while Alexander-Stevens led the team with 68 yards on the ground.
The Pioneers scored 17 points in the third quarter and 24 in the fourth quarter to pull away and earn the victory.
The Seahawks will next be in action on Saturday, November 16, as they travel to Saint Francis U for a 12 pm kickoff.
