Women’s Lacrosse Wins Third Straight, Remains Unbeaten In NEC With 17-9 Win At Saint Francis U

The Wagner women's lacrosse team put on an offensive display in racing past Saint Francis U 17-9 behind eight points (2g, 6a) from junior attack Anna Belle Reilly and five points (4g, 1a) from senior attack Heidi Colford on Sunday afternoon at DeGol Field.
 
In winning their third straight game, the Seahawks improve to 7-4 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the Northeast Conference (NEC), having earned a 12-9 road win over Robert Morris on Friday. With the loss, SFU falls to 4-8 on the season and 0-2 in league play.
 
Beyond the 13 points combined by Reilly and Colford, junior attack Marjorie Dehm hit for for a hat trick in recording three points, on output matched by sophomore attack Stephanie Falcone (2g, 1a) and freshman midfielder Erin Kerstetter (1g, 2a).
 
Senior midfielder, and reigning NEC Player of the Week, Lauren Ednie, finished with two points on a pair of goals for the Green & White. Notching one point one goal apiece for the Seahawks were senior midfielder April Simmons, sophomore attack Talia Bouzakis, and freshman midfielder Victoria Tucci.

Senior goalies Lucy Darlington and Kelsey Fee combined for 11 saves on the afternoon, with Darlington making five stops and allowing four goals in the first half before Fee came on to record six saves with five goals allowed in the second half.
 
After the Red Flash took their final lead of the game at 3-2, the Seahawks responded with five straight goals to make it a 7-3 game. SFU's Jessica Mazur got one back with a score at the 14:10 mark of the opening half, to draw the Red Flash within 7-4 but Wagner was able to reel off the next four goals in gaining a comfortable 11-4 lead at the break.
 
At the outset of the second half, the Seahawks picked up where they left off with scores by Kerstetter and Dehm, both coming on assists by Reilly, to make it a 6-0 run bridging the halves which gave Wagner a commanding 13-4 lead, and the Green & White never looked back.
 
Mazur (2g, 2a) and Sarah Mahan (3g, 1a) paced SFU in scoring with four points apiece while Morgan Day (2g) and Emilieigh Scott (2g) added two points apiece for the Red Flash. Under duress throughout, Ashkey Stoessel made eight saves in the game's first 48:41 before Grace Cooney came on to play the final 11:19.
 
Statistically, Wagner held the advantage in shots (30-26) and ground balls (30-22), while the Red Flash held a 17-11 edge in draw controls. Both teams were 0-of-3 on free position shots, while the Seahawks committed just 17 turnovers while their defense forced SFU into 22 miscues.
 
The Green & White will host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, April 14 with opening draw between the Seahawks and the Mountaineers set for 1:00 p.m.
