Staten Island, NY – Freshman midfielder Erin Kerstetter followed up her four-goal effort in last week's season opener at Iona with a hat trick today, while senior attack Heidi Colford and senior midfielder Lauren Ednie scored two goals apiece but it was Hofstra which wound up pulling away for a 15-10 victory at unseasonably warm and sunny Hameline Field.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-2 while the Pride, who compete in the Colonial Athletic Association, are now 2-0.

Freshman midfielder Ally Alliegro matched her classmate Kerstetter with three points on one goal and two assists. Junior attack Anna Belle Reily came up with two points with a pair of assists, while tallying one goal each were junior attack Marjorie Dehm and sophomore midfielder Meghan Pendergast.

Alex Mattera sank five goals, with one assist, for the Pride while Carlee Ancona and Alyssa Parrella scored four times each, with the latter adding two assists in matching Mattera's six-point output.

After Kerstetter knocked home the game's first goal just 1:10 into the contest, Hofstra reeled off the next seven scores in taking a 7-1 lead. Wagner registered three of the next four tallies, one by Pendergast, followed by a pair from Colford, in closing the deficit to 8-4 at halftime.

Trailing 10-5, the Seahawks recorded three consecutive goals, two by Kertsetter, to get within two at 10-8 at the midway point of the second half. The Pride answered with two consecutive scores to make it a 12-8 game, en route to the 15-10 win.

Senior Lucy Darlington gained the started in goal and came up with five first-half saves before giving way to Kelsey Fee who came on to record three saves while playing the entire second half.

Maddie Fields went the distance between the pipes for Hofstra and wound up with nine saves on the afternoon.

From a team standpoint, Hofstra held the edge in shots (33-26), ground balls (21-18) and draw controls (15-12). The Pride went 5-of-10 on free-position shots while Wagner was successful on 2-of-7 FPO's.

The Seahawks will now play host to a pair of teams that hail from Pennsylvania, in Bucknell on February 24 and Lehigh on March 3. Wagner will conclude the four-game home stretch when Stetson makes the long trip from DeLand, FL on March 7.
