Smithfield, RI – Having clinched a berth in next weekend's Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament following Friday's victory at Central Connecticut, the Wagner women's lacrosse team ran into a buzzsaw on Sunday, as first-place Bryant ran past the Seahawks 16-6 on Senior Day.

The victory completes an undefeated NEC regular season for Bryant (11-4, 7-0 NEC) as the Bulldogs claim their fourth straight regular season conference crown and will host the league tourney for the fourth year in a row. The 2017 NEC Tournament begins with the semifinals on Friday, May 5 and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, May 7.

The third-seeded Seahawks (6-11, 4-3 NEC) will begin defense of their 2016 title against second-seeded Robert Morris in one semifinal on Friday while top-seed Bryant will play fourth-seeded Sacred Heart in the other semi with the winners set to clash on Sunday for the title.

In a rematch of last season's NEC Championship game, sophomore attacker Marjorie Dehm (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker / Vermont) was a bright spot for the Green & White, matching her career high with four goals. Registering single goals for Wagner were sophomore attacker Anna Belle Reilly (Paradise Valley, AZ / Notre Dame Prep) and junior midfielder Lauren Ednie (Verona, NJ / Verona).

Junior attacker Heidi Colford (Eden Praire, MN . Eden Prairie) led Wagner in assists with two while senior attacker Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) was credited with one assist.

Jess DeMeo scored two of her game-high five goals in the opening half as the Bulldogs built a 9-2 lead at the intermission.

A nearly hour-long weather delay gave both teams an extended stay in the locker room between halves.

The Bulldogs held a 34-16 edge in shots and won the draw control margin, 14-10, while edging the Seahawks in ground balls, 19-17. Junior goalie Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains) paced Wagner with five groundballs while recording five saves during the first half. Junior Lucy Darlington (Timonium, MD / Notre Dame Preparatory) came on to register four saves while playing the entire second half.
