Philadelphia, PA - The Wagner Women's soccer squad dropped their season opener last night against LaSalle to a score of 5-0. They move to a record of 0-1-0 in the brand new 2007 season.
Unfortunately for the Seahawks, it didn't take the host Explorers long to get on the scoreboard. Just 37 seconds into the contest LaSalle player Kristin Hextall put a ball past Wagner's freshman goalkeeper Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) for a goal.
Despite the Seahawks' strong efforts the Explorers never looked back as they would put up four more scores to make it a 5-0 final going away.
Schueschner, who was among four freshmen who got the start for Head Coach Mike Minielli's Green & White squad Friday night, recorded 10 saves between the pipes and played all 90 minutes.
Three Seahawks recorded shots on goal but were not able to put one past the Explorer defensive front.
Next up for Wagner is Lafayette as they come into town for the Seahawks' home opener Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Wagner College Stadium.
