Wagner's Noelker In Second Place After NEC Championship First Round

April 27, 2007

Hershey, PA - Junior Emily Noelker (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) shot a nine-over-par 79 this afternoon at a waterlogged Hershey East Golf Course to put her in second place after round one at the Northeast Conference Championships.

Noelker remains seven strokes behind the leader, Saint Francis (PA) junior Samantha Milosh, who fired off a two-over-par 72 today to claim the top spot thus far. With still a lot of golf left - there are two more rounds, 36 holes, left to be played tomorrow and Sunday - Noelker is right in the thick of things to compete for the championship.

Trailing the Wagner junior is Lucie Sarachova, a freshman from Central Connecticut State who sits two strokes behind second-place at 11-over-par.

Still early, Noelker will look to join Alysse Sweeney as the only other Wagner women's golfer to win an individual NEC crown. Sweeney did so in 2004 as a sophomore.

As for the team effort, Wagner is struggling early as they finished just in front of Farleigh Dickinson with a combined score of 401 - eighth place out of nine teams.

Saint Francis (PA) leads all NEC competitors with a combined score of 330, ten strokes ahead of second place Central Connecticut State.

Wagner freshman Allison Amador (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) shot a 96 and in a tie for 31st, freshman Jennifer Petrotta (Staten Island, NY/Susan E. Wagner) shot a 101 good enough for 39th, and junior Sara Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) shot a 125 and in 42nd.
