Wagner Bit By Rattlers in 5-1 Loss

Kissimmee, FL - The Wagner softball team managed just two hits in a 5-1 loss against Florida A&M University in the Rebel Games at the Osceola Sports Complex this morning. The defeat ends a four game win streak for the Seahawks which slide to 6-5 overall. The Rattlers stopped a seven game losing streak and moved to 7-26 overall.

The Seahawks fell behind 1-0 in the third as the Rattlers scored the first run against Wagner pitching in the last 16 innings. Joyce Harlod led off the inning with a double into center and later came in to score on a ground out. FAMU then made it 3-0 in the fourth with three straight two out singles.

The Wagner deficit then reached 5-0 in the sixth inning after a two out, two-run double from Rhianna Green.

Ashley Jones carried a no hitter into the top of the seventh until junior Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) led off the inning with a double into center. Senior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) knocked in the Iwicki with a two out single up the middle to account for the only Wagner run.

Junior Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) drew a pair of walks in the game and junior Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) was hit twice by a pitch to run her season total to 10 in 11 games.

Senior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) (3-2) took the loss allowing two earned runs.

Wagner goes against Central Conn. St. in non league play at the Rebel Games later today.
