Seahawks Finish Knotted Up With Bobcats After Two Overtimes, 0-0

Oct. 26, 2007

Box Score

Hamden, CT - The Wagner College Women's Soccer team finished in a scoreless tie with the Bobcats of Quinnipiac (9-4-2, 2-2-2 NEC) in a Northeast Conference game this afternoon at Bobcat Field. The Seahawks move to a record of (3-10-2, 1-4-1 NEC) on the year.

Both sides possessed opportunities to take command of this offensive struggle but neither could cash in.

In the 37th minute Wagner sophomore midfielder Danielle Sheehan (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) blasted a kick that was deflected by Quinnipiac goalkeeper Chloe Beizer and wound up ricocheting off the post for a miss.

Unfortunately for the Seahawks that would be the best shot they would have at removing their zero from the scoreboard for the rest of the game.

The Bobcats would have a few more opportunities than that, as they bested the visiting Green & White in shots category, 28-6. Eight of those 28 shots were on goal for Quinnipiac while Sheehan's crack at the net was it for the Seahawks.

The host's two best chances to garner their tenth victory of the season was a shot by Amanda Bilas in the first half that was snuffed out by Wagner freshman goalkeeper Samantha Schueschner (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) on a spectacular one-handed save and a blast by Kara Barrepski that was dug out by Schueschner for a save in the second overtime.

The Seahawk freshman keeper would wind up with eight saves on the afternoon. It was her fourth shutout of the year.

The Green & White will look to capture their second conference victory this Sunday when they take on the Bobcats' in-state rivals: Central Connecticut State in New Britain. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
