FAIRFIELD, CT - The Wagner College volleyball team fell to 2-9 on the season after losing 3-0 to Columbia (3-4) in their first match at the Sacred Heart Invitational. The Seahawks lost the three games by scores of 30-17, 30-22, 30-23.
Columbia outhit Wagner by the count of.210-.096 and had six aces to just one for the Seahawks.
Sophomore Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA / St. Lucy's Priory) led the Seahawks offense with a game-high 14 kills on .216 hitting to go along with 11 digs for her third double-double of the year. Senior Trish Morris (Queensland, Australia / St. Patrick's College) also notched double-figures in kills with 10 on .129 hitting.
Senior Lydia Emnott (Neenah, WI / Neenah) led the Seahawks with 19 assists while sophomore Sirena LaBurn (Port Neches, TX / Port Neches) had a team-high 15 digs. Senior Kerry Krohn (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) also had 10 digs rounding out the Seahawks in double-figures.
The Green & White concludes action tomorrow at the Sacred Heart Tournament with matches against Providence at 2 pm and against the host Pioneers at 4 pm.
