LEWISBURG, PA - The Green & White dropped a 3-0 decision in their first match of the Bucknell Tournament to the homestanding Bison. With the loss Wagner is now 1-6 on the year while Bucknell is 7-5.
The first game was a back-and-forth affair with the Green & White sprinting out to the early 4-0 lead only to see Bucknell answer with an 11-4 run of their own. With the score tied at 26, the Bison closed out the game with a 4-1 run to win 30-27.
Using that momentum, Bucknell won the final two games by scores of 30-16 and 30-23.
Wagner was outhit .239 to .048 by the Bison.
Sophomore Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA / St. Lucy's Priory) led Wagner with nine kills and 12 digs. Freshman Sam O'Brien (San Francisco, CA / Sacred Heart Cathedral) also had a solid match with seven kills on an impressive .462 hiting percentage.
Lydia Emnott (Neenah, WI / Neenah) had a team-best 17 assists while freshman Gabi Hilk (Wilmington, DE / Alexis I. DuPont) had 11 assists. Rounding out the Seahawks in double-figures was Sirena LaBurn (Port Neches, TX / Por Neches), who had 11 digs.
The Green & White conclude play at the Bucknell Tournament today with matches against La Salle and Princeton.
