Final Stats
Staten Island, NY - Wagner won its second straight women's lacrosse game with a 16-2 romp of visiting St. Francis (PA) today. The consecutive victories have improved the Seahawks Northeast Conference mark to 2-3 and the overall record to 4-8. The Red Flash meanwhile, fall to 0-5 in the NEC and 0-10 on the year with the loss.
Wagner scored three times in the first 47 seconds and never looked back as they extended the lead to 12-0 at halftime. Ten different players scored goals in the game for the Seahawks, while seven other handed out assists.
Freshman Jessica Richmond (Jenkintown, PA / Jenkintown) led the team with three goals and an assist, while senior Heather George (W. Allenhurst, NJ / Ocean Township) added a hat trick as well. Sophomore Brittany Borsody (Germantown, MD / Seneca Valley) was also key in the win dishing out a career high three assists.
The Seahawks would extend their lead to 15-0 in the second half before a goal by Shannon Scarola at 19:00 ended the shutout.
Senior Anne Thomas (Alexandria, VA / E. Burk) also had four points in the game with two goals and two assists, while freshman Kelly Blundin (Plymouth Meeting, PA / Whitemarsh) joined the multi goal scorers with two.
Senior Nicole Cipollone (Swathmore, PA / Ridley) led the team with seven ground balls. In goal freshman Amy Jones (Jarrettsville, MD / N. Harford) made one first half save before giving way to senior Leslie Christian (Middlesex, VT / Union) in the second half Christian would stop three shots, as the Seahawks out shot the Red Flash 38-9 for the game. Wagner also had a huge 33-10 advantage in ground balls and won 14 of 19 draw controls.
Wagner returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Bucknell for a 4:00 pm game.
