Fairfield, CT - Junior pitcher Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) won her 42nd career game on the mound to set the school record for career victories as the Wagner softball team split a softball double header at Sacred Heart at Pioneer Park earlier today. Wagner would take the first game 2-1 before falling to the Pioneers by a final of 2-0 in the nightcap. The outcome leaves the Seahawks at 13-3 in the NEC and 32-16 overall.

Wagner took game one on a RBI single from sophomore Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) in the top of the sixth. With the scored even at one run a piece, sophomore Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) led off with a double. After a strike out, Iwicki singled in Batistelli for the go ahead run.

One run was all Miller would need on the mound as she improved to 17-7 for the season with the complete game four-hitter with 0 earned runs. The Las Vegas local now 42-28 in her three years, surpassed the previous mark held by Krystle Petty ('00-'03).

The Seahawks would go up 1-0 in the fourth as senior Joy Gallagher (Hazleton, PA / Hazleton), singled and eventually scored on an error during a sacrifice attempt by sophomore Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS).

The Pioneers evened things up in the fifth inning scoring their only run of the game. Sacred Heart recorded two of the four hits to help load the bases, before a walk forced in the tying run.

Sacred Heart went on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first behind a pair of doubles. The Pioneers would ten score another run in the third with a out double followed by a sacrifice and RBI single.

Junior Dara Gadziala (E. Brunswick, NJ / E. Brunswick) was charged with the loss, ending her seven game winning streak. Gadziala (14-4) went 2.1 innings before giving way to Miller. Miller would allow two hits in the final 3.2 innings, while striking out a pair.

Wagner would put runners on first and second with no outs after leadoff singles from junior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) and senior Christy Sykora (Orland Park, IL / Carl Sandburg), but a fly out and back -to-back looking strikeouts ended the game.

Gallagher had two hits in the ball game as her hitting streak grew to 21 games.
