Staten Island, NY - The Wagner Seahawks softball team was at it again today as they took a double header from Temple 11-6 and 6-5 to run their school record winning streak to 10 straight. Wagner trailed by five runs in game one and then won game two in the final at bat to improve to 28-14 on the year and 12-1 at home.

Junior Dara Gadziala (E. Brunswick, NJ / E. Brunswick) picked up wins out of the bull pen in each game to improve her season record to 12-3. Sophomore Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS) was the offensive star of the day with five hits, including a walk off double in the second game.

In the first affair, Wagner rallied from a five run deficit to secure the ninth straight win. After each team failed to score in the first two innings Temple (13-21) broke out for five runs in the top of the third. The Owls recorded six hits in the inning, including four with two outs, for a 5-0 advantage.

The Seahawks answered right back in the bottom of the inning scoring four runs of their own. The green and white would force in three runs by drawing bases loaded walks, while freshman Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV / Wooster) knocked in another with a single to center. Senior Joy Gallagher (Hazleton, PA / Hazleton) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth bouncing a RBI single into center and extended her hitting streak to 14 games.

The scoring continued in the last of the fifth as freshman Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramus Catholic) and junior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) led off the inning by reaching on errors. Vanore made it 6-5 coming into to score on a wild pitch, while Hopkins came home on a sacrifice fly to right by Gallia.

After taking over for Hopkins in the top of the fifth, junior Gadziala gave a run back in the fifth. The Owls scored on a two out double from Brittany Burks, before the third year righty escaped a bases loaded jam with a fly out to center.

The Seahawks continued to pour it on in the sixth scoring four more for a comfortable 11-6 lead. Sophomore Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) started the scoring with her seventh homer of the year, a two out solo shot into center. After an error and single extended the frame, Lazzari delivered again with a two run double into left. Gallia would follow with a RBI single into center for her second hit of the game.

Gadziala earned the win on the mound, after allowing one run on four hits in the final three innings.

Sophomore Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) had three hits in the game, while Gallia, Gallagher, and Batistelli all drove in two each.

In game two it was the Seahawks turn to start first as they jumped out early with a five runs in the second. Senior Christy Sykora (Orland Park, IL / Carl Sandburg) then scored another run on a RBI ground out from junior Natalie Stephens (Jackson, NJ / Jackson) before a run scoring single by Hopkins.

As Wagner did in the first game, Temple responded in game two with a five run fourth to tie the game. After a double by Adriene Repsher scored the first run, the Owls used small ball to score their other runs. Two infield bunts and a throwing error would help lead to the additional runs as the score stood locked at 5-5.

Hopkins then got it going for the Seahawks in the seventh with a one out single down the left field line. Gallagher would follow with a single into left to run her hitting streak to 15 games. After a strikeout, Gallia bombed the game winning double just inside the foul line in the left field corner to send Hopkins home and keep the win streak alive.
