Emmitsburg, MD - The Wagner Seahawks rolled over host Mount St. Mary's in a softball double header at the MSM Field earlier today shutting out the Mountaineers 6-0 and 14-0 (5) The Seahawks pitching duo of juniors Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) and Dara Gadziala (E. Brunswick, NJ / E. Brunswick) combined to allow just five hits in 12 innings on the day, while the offense erupted for 20 runs and 25 hits.
Wagner improves to 8-2 in the Northeast Conference and 24-14 overall, having now won six straight. Mount slides to 7-3 in the NEC and 24-18 on the year.
In the opener with Miller (14-6) dealing on the mound the Seahawks provided the offense with a six run fourth inning. Wagner scored on four hits, including a two run double from Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS) and a RBI single by junior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison). Senior Joy Gallagher (Hazleton, PA / Hazleton) also knocked in a run with a groundout to short.
Miller allowed just three hits in the game while posting her second straight shutout and seventh of the year.
Sophomore Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) had three hits, while freshman Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramus Catholic) added two for the Seahawks.

In game two it was all Wagner from the beginning as Gallagher put the team up 3-0 in the first with a her seventh dinger of the year and fifth in the last seven games. Sophomore
Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) followed with her sixth homer of the year as the Seahawks led 4-0 and had yet to record an out. Sophomore
Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) and Gallia would added RBI singles later in the frame for a 6-0 lead after one.
The second inning saw more of the Wagner juice as the Seahawks plated six more runs on six hits, including five doubles. Iwicki and Hopkins each drove in a pair with their doubles while Vanore and Gallia knocked in one each with doubles of their own.
Gadziala (9-3) won for the ninth time in the last 10 games surrendering just a pair of hits in the fourth inning. She also struck out three in her second shutout of the season.
With the Seahawks comfortably in front, senior Gia Grimaldi (Hauppauge, NY / Hauppauge) was welcomed to the party with a two run homer in the fourth, the first of her career.
Ten different players recorded hits, while the Seahawks pounded out a season high 14 runs.
Wagner continues NEC play this Tuesday as they Quinnipiac at 2:30 pm.
